Greensboro posts wide slate of city jobs under new administration; applications due Dec. 1

City Hall has opened applications for a broad list of positions as Mayor Ralph A. Howard begins assembling his administration, a move that caught many residents by surprise after years of continuity under former Mayor J.B. Washington. Several of the roles have been held by longtime employees. City Clerk Lorrie Cook had already announced she will retire at the end of this year after more than two decades in the job.

City officials said current employees may apply for their positions. While it is not unusual for a new administration to advertise vacancies, the long tenure of the previous mayor meant many of these posts have been stable for years.

Openings include city clerk, assistant city clerk, municipal court judge, municipal court prosecutor, municipal court clerk magistrate, street supervisor, street supervisor assistant, senior nutrition director, parks and recreation director, computer lab supervisor, computer lab clerk, code enforcement officer, custodian, and police officer.

Applications may be picked up at Greensboro City Hall, 1101 Main Street, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The deadline to submit a résumé and application is Monday, December 1, 2025, by close of business. For more information, call 334-624-8119. The City of Greensboro is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
