Flora Ellen Monts Whaley, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on November 3, 1941, she lived a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to her family and community.
Flora was the cherished wife of John C. Whaley for 64 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. She was preceded in death by her only son, Russell Whaley, her parents Cleveland and Doris Langham Monts, and her sister, Dorothy Lee Barnett.
She is survived by her loving husband, John; her cherished granddaughter, Tiffany Whaley; and her sisters, Jeanette (Kent) Lanier and Elizabeth Whitten. Flora also leaves behind a dedicated team of caregivers who provided her with love and support during her illness: Crystal Lee, Juanita Lee, Kimberly Lee, Erica Smith, and Vonshalai Jackson. Their compassion and care brought her comfort and peace in her final days.
A lifelong member of the Greensboro Baptist Church, Flora embodied the values of faith and service, touching the lives of many with her kindness and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Greensboro Baptist Church or a charity of your choice in Flora’s memory. A celebration of her life will be held at Greensboro Baptist Church on October 12, 2024 at 11am.
Flora will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and faith will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
