In light of recent tornadoes and other weather events that have negatively impacted Hale County, the Hale County Extension Office hosted a “Weather Wise Workshop” to promote weather preparedness among its citizens. The workshop was held in the Extension Auditorium of the Hale County Extension Office and saw a great interest from the community.
Participants engaged in various activities, including naming different types of weather events, identifying key components of an “emergency go bag,” and exploring the differences in types of emergency alerts. The workshop included pre and post assessments to gauge the increase in knowledge, curiosity, and awareness of the participants.
As a token of appreciation and to encourage preparedness, those who completed the workshop received an “emergency go bag” and a weather radio for their personal use.
The Hale County Extension Office expressed gratitude to its entire team and Karley Belanger, Project Horseshoe Farm Fellow, for their efforts in making the workshop a success. “From programming weather radios to room set up and from presenting educational information to assisting with iPad technology for completing assessments, everyone’s role was integral,” the Extension Office said in a Facebook post.
The workshop is part of a broader effort by the Hale County Extension Office to promote preparedness and safety among its citizens.
