Sherry Leverett Barton, 77 of Marion, AL went to her eternal home on June 23. She was born on November 24, 1945 in Marion, AL to Thomas Irvin Leverett and Johnny Lou Patterson Leverett. She was a school teacher in the Perry County School System and the Greensboro Public School System as well as at Marion Academy. She was members of the Perry County High School Alumni Association and the Perry County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burnis Clair Barton; and her sister, Irvine Herrod. She is survived by her sons: Thomas Alexander Barton and Kenneth Leverett Barton; and her step sons: Franklin Eugene Barton, Wallace Carleton Barton, James Donovan Barton, and Burnis Dudley Barton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 26, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Marion Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am at the church with the Reverend Len Hurston officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing. A graveside service followed at Marion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Kenneth Leverett Barton, Thomas Alexander Barton, Wallace Carleton Barton, James Donovan Barton, Franklin Eugene Barton, and Burnis Dudley Barton. Honorary pallbearers were: Andre Tubbs, Eddie Benjamin, and Linda Moore.
