Samuel LaShun “Shun” Paster, 44, died October 10.

He was born on October 21, 1981, the eldest of three children born to Samuel Jr. and Beverly Paster. To those who loved him, he was affectionately known as Shun, but to his mother, he was always her cherished “Baby Boy.”

On September 14, 1997, Shun dedicated his life to Jehovah through water immersion, faithfully attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He deeply enjoyed commenting during meetings, giving talks, supporting the congregation, and spending time with his spiritual family. Always willing to help, he was known for his reliability, kindness, and warm presence.

Shun remained steadfast in his service to Jehovah throughout his life and continued to serve faithfully until his death. His love for Jehovah, his family, his congregation, and his friends will be remembered with gratitude and affection by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband to Tanika Shauntae Paster, whom he fiercely loved, and a son to Samuel Jr. and Beverly Paster, who were the source of his kind heart and gentle spirit.

Shun had the kind of heart that made room for everyone. He was the type of person who showed up and gave everything he had to make sure everyone around him felt welcome and comfortable. He effortlessly poured all of that love into his daughter, Alayna.

Shun had many passions, but spending his Saturdays watching “The Tide” with his family and friends was high on that list.

More than anything, he simply loved his family. His kindness, loyalty, and unmistakable dimpled laugh will remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Samuel LaShun Paster was preceded in death by his dear grandparents, Samuel Sr. and Hazel Paster, and Willie Henry and Pearlie Mae Williams.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Tanika Paster; children, Alayna Paster, Tiya Carter, India Blackmon, and Tylan White; adored parents, Samuel Jr. and Beverly Paster; “twin sisters,” as he liked to say, TaKeisha (Harvey) Strickland and LaKeisha Paster (Ken); nieces and nephew, Myah Shaye Paster, Harper Strickland, and Harley Strickland; and a large, loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry his memories with them always.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 24, at 1 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, 515 Green St., Greensboro. Washington & Paige Mortuary of Greensboro directed.
