A Hale County grand jury has indicted a Sawyerville man on a murder charge in the June 6 shooting death of 24-year-old LaBrian O’Neal Jones Jr., according to Hale County Circuit Court records.

Kardarrell Darnell Winn, 23, of Sawyerville is charged with murder, a Class A felony. The indictment charges that Winn intentionally caused Jones’s death by shooting him with a firearm.

The grand jury returned the indictment during its September term, and the case was filed in circuit court Oct. 5. The indictment left Winn’s bail unchanged, and the circuit court record shows no bond amount. As of Oct. 5, circuit court records listed Winn’s status as jailed. His arraignment is set for Nov. 6.

Winn was arrested in Reform days after the shooting with help from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Hale County Sheriff Michael Hamilton told WBRC at the time. Hamilton said in June that people were at a Class Day Out event in Sawyerville when the shooting happened, but that it did not take place inside the event venue.
