William “Duck” Long, 80, died September 5.
He was born May 10, 1946, at home in Sawyerville to the late Alice Taylor Burrage and James Long. He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Drucilla Tinker Long; his mother, Alice Burrage; his father, James Long; and three sons, Jamon Franike Fields, Don Cornelius Fields and Stephen Marcus Tinker.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories five daughters, Sherrie Townsend of Childersburg, Nicole (Jeremy) Johnson of Norcross, Ga., Lequitta (Aaron) Jenkins of Madison, and Felicia Fields and Stephaine Tinker, both of Sawyerville; two sons, William Long of Wilsonville and William Edward of Perry County; five sisters, Ora Tinker and Barbara Gilbert, both of Sawyerville, Janet Ford of North Carolina, and Jochived Burrage and Janese Burrage, both of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Lamar Burrage of Tuscaloosa and Ray Burrage of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles and friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 12, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 583 New Hope Road, Sawyerville, with Pastor Marvin Wiggins officiating.
