The Lincolnite Club, Inc. is now accepting applications for its 2026 scholarship awards, offering financial assistance to Black Belt students who show both academic promise and a record of service to their schools and communities.
The club’s National Scholarship Committee is seeking high school seniors with a grade point average of 2.50 or higher who demonstrate leadership abilities, participate in extracurricular activities, and are engaged in community service. Applicants must also be Black Belt residents or descendants and submit a 250-word essay on the topic, “What Would Receipt of a Lincolnite Club, Inc. Scholarship Mean to Me?”
Application forms and full guidelines are available by phone from committee members, including Marion reporter Mary Lue Essex at 334-683-9811, as well as Thomas J. Miree (Ann Arbor, MI), Amzie Griffin (Detroit, MI), Gladys Moore (Southfield, MI), Berlean Holland (Moreno Valley, CA), and Viola P. Benson (Palm Desert, CA).
Completed applications must be returned by mail with a postmark on or before April 30, 2026. Students and school counselors will be notified of selections and awards by June 30, 2026, and scholarship funds will be awarded once recipients provide proof of enrollment at an accredited college or university.
