The annual convention is the largest event of the League of Municipalities, and it affords attendees opportunities to learn, hold critical discussions, vote on League leadership, and network with other delegates and municipalities.

A representative from El Mariachi Garibaldi came before the Council to ask its approval for the restaurant’s application for a restaurant retail liquor license.

Curtis made a motion to allow the restaurant a liquor license. Lewis seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. The owners of El Mariachi Garibaldi will now seek approval from the ABC board.

Mayor Howard thanked ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell for his assistance to the City in its plans for a storm shelter. Howard and the Council are now looking into construction options for the shelter, which will be located on Powers Street.

Howard also emphasized the importance of the Greensboro Police Department, and said the Department is now up to its proper personnel level.

“You can’t have a good city without a good city police department,” Howard said.
