David James “Anthony” Fields, 65, of Greensboro, died on January 12, 2026. He was born on September 22, 1960, to Queen Fields Craig. His beloved and beautiful mother, father and five siblings preceded him in death.
David leaves to cherish his memories the love of his life, Marilyn Faye Hicks; two sons, Kiara (Michelle) Hicks of Greensboro, AL, and *Deshadrian (Sabrina) McGrew; and four stepchildren, Kendra Hicks, Damian Hicks, Ja’lisa Hicks and Tiffany Hicks, all of Greensboro, AL.
He also leaves to cherish his memories Amya Hill and Eyin Hill, of whom he was uncle and legal guardian; a special goddaughter, Kentoryia McGuffie; a loving and caring sister, Beverly Fields Williams of Greensboro, AL; Minister Armstead (Minister Cheryl) Fields of Columbus, OH; and three half-brothers, Lester (Velma) Cottrell of Greensboro, AL, Robert (Audrey) Cottrell of Tuscaloosa, AL, and *Bryant (Cristen) Cottrell.
David also leaves behind eight grandchildren — Ladainian Hicks, Jayden Hicks-Williams, Brayden Hicks, Caleb Mickens, KyZavian Hicks, Khaza Hicks and Kenzlie Jade Thomas — all of Greensboro, AL; along with a host of nephews, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life for David James “Anthony” Fields will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Matthew AME Church in Greensboro, AL, with Rev. Stephany Davis-Colenberg officiating.
