He worked for the City of Moundville until his retirement, when he began to enjoy daily coffee visits with friends, fishing, and working in his garden. He was an active member of Moundville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for over fifty years and was honored as Deacon Emeritus for his many years of faithful service.

Armon’s family was the focus and joy of his life. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. He filled his days caring for his loved ones and watching and supporting them in whatever endeavors they were involved in. He was a constant companion to his wife after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and never missed a single day in seven years visiting her at Moundville Health & Rehab.

It was very rare for him to miss any activity his children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren were involved in. He cheered from the stands as he watched them twirl, dance, cheer, and play football and baseball. He even traveled, a few years ago, to Grand Junction, Colorado, to watch his grandson play in the junior college World Series.

Armon loved people and never met a stranger. He had a gift for befriending anyone he met. He was often jokingly referred to as the “Mayor” of Moundville Health & Rehab because he knew and was so loved by everyone there. Armon truly had a love for the Lord and shared the gospel as often as possible. His faith guided his life until the day he took his last breath.
