Greensboro City Council held its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday night, January 13th. Ms. Teacher and Ms. Hart of the Community Enrichment Academy asked the Council to give them financial assistance of any kind to help support their program.

“We are in a very old building and we need computers and a printer. We try to help the kids with their internet and printing needs. We’re serving as a bridge between home and school. We’re asking you to help these kids. We need Chrome books. We got a lot of calls from parents over the holidays thanking us for the raise in their kids’ first semester grades. There were kids who went from D and F averages to B and A averages. We would just like for the members of the Council and the community to look in their hearts and help us to continue providing this service,” Teacher said.

Councilmember Lewis asked Teacher how much her after-school tutoring program needed.

“We would like very much to get $5,000 to help these kids,” said Teacher.
