Ruby Lakeshia Carter was born on October 16, 1985, in Hale County, Alabama, to Francis Carter and James Hunter. She transitioned into the arms of Christ on November 9, 2025, at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
Ruby gave her life to Christ and had an enduring relationship with him, as evidenced by her words and deeds.
Known for her intellect and kind spirit, Ruby was educated in the Hale County School System. Following high school graduation, she matriculated to Concordia College in Selma, Alabama, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education. A dedicated scholar, after her time at Concordia, she enrolled at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama, and was conferred her Master of Arts in School Counseling.
Ruby is remembered by all who knew her as an example of radiant love, compassionate kindness, and enduring patience. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend. Those who knew her understood that auntie was the title she wore with the most pride. She adored her nieces and nephews and could always be seen with one of them in tow, as they are the truest manifestation of her love.
Ruby was preceded in death by her father, James Hunter, and her nephew, Xzavier Eatmon.
Left behind to cherish the memories of Ruby are her mother, Francis Carter; her sisters, Sherina Carter, Sharon Carter, and Cynthia Hunter; her brothers, Harold Bagby and Wilbert Hunter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services were held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Evans Cemetery in Sawyerville, Alabama.
