Love Is What Love Does, a local nonprofit, announced their “Sponsor a Family” program that began November 10 and will conclude on December 26 of this year. The program is aimed at community members who wish to give other families in the Hale, Perry, Houston, Dallas, Dale, and Coffee County areas food for the holiday season.
Participants may purchase a $40 meal pack from supporting grocery stores in those areas. Aldi and Walmart have been identified as two of the larger retailers offering these meal packs. Each pack is designed to feed a family of 10. There is also the option of donating groceries, both perishable and non-perishable, with pickup available courtesy of the nonprofit.
Local farmers also have the option of donating fresh meat or produce from their operations to the cause, with pickup available for those interested. The organization is also accepting monetary donations for this cause.
