A Greensboro man, Eric Deon Watkins, has been charged in Hale County with attempted murder stemming from an Oct. 24 shooting. Court filings state multiple shots were fired during a nighttime gathering, striking a man in the lower left leg and causing a broken bone.
In addition to attempted murder, Watkins is charged with first-degree assault, discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle, reckless endangerment, and possession of a pistol by a person forbidden. He was arrested on Nov. 10 and placed on the jail docket.
Bond was set at $60,000 for attempted murder, $30,000 for first-degree assault, $15,000 for discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle, $6,000 for reckless endangerment, and $15,000 for possession of a pistol by a person forbidden, for a total of $126,000.
Watkins is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
