A Greensboro man, Eric Deon Watkins, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an Oct. 24 shooting in Hale County. According to sworn complaints filed Nov. 10 in district court, multiple shots were fired during a gathering that night, wounding a man in the lower left leg.
In addition to attempted murder, Watkins faces charges of:
- First-degree assault
- Discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle
- Reckless endangerment
- Possession of a pistol by a person forbidden
Watkins was arrested Nov. 10 and assigned to the jail docket.
Bond was set as follows:

- $60,000 for attempted murder
- $30,000 for first-degree assault
- $15,000 for discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle
- $6,000 for reckless endangerment
- $15,000 for possession of a pistol by a person forbidden
This brings the total bond to $126,000.
A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 9:00 a.m. Watkins is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
