Greensboro Elementary School is collecting nonperishable foods to stock its pantry so it can better support families in need. Donations may be dropped off at the school, 1801 South Street in Greensboro, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The school will accept donations through Monday, Dec. 8, and will be closed during Thanksgiving week. Organizers are asking for shelf-stable items that are easy to store and use. Suggested canned goods include:
- Soups
- Beans
- Vegetables
- Fruits
- Chicken
- Tuna
- SpaghettiOs and ravioli
Boxed and bagged staples such as dried beans of any variety, pasta or rice, instant potatoes, macaroni and cheese, ramen noodles, cereal, cereal bars, Pop-Tarts, and instant oatmeal are also welcome. Other helpful items include peanut butter and jelly, crackers, and shelf-stable milk.
The school encourages anyone who is able to participate, noting that every contribution helps put food on the table for neighbors in the community. Donations can be delivered at the front office during the posted hours through the deadline.
