The Hale County Library will mark a remarkable milestone this fall as it celebrates its 100th birthday. The community is invited to join in honoring this beloved institution on Sunday, November 2 at 2:00 for a special centennial celebration sponsored by the Friends of the Hale County Library.
For a full century, the library has served as a cornerstone of the community, providing access to books, resources, and programs that have enriched the lives of generations of Hale County residents. This celebration will recognize not only the library’s enduring legacy but also the dedicated individuals who have guided it through the decades.
The November 2 event will include a special tribute honoring the Tunstall family, who donated the building for the library and all past librarians who have served the library throughout its 100-year history. The librarians have been the heart of the institution, connecting community members with knowledge, fostering a love of reading, and creating a welcoming space for all.
In a creative community initiative, local school children are encouraged to design and submit birthday cards for the library. These handmade cards will be displayed during the celebration, showcasing the creativity of Hale County’s young residents while demonstrating that the library continues to inspire new generations. Teachers and parents can help children create cards that express what the library means to them or their hopes for its future.
The Friends of Hale County Library, a vital volunteer organization dedicated to supporting library programs and services, is proud to sponsor this milestone celebration. Their ongoing efforts help ensure that the library continues to serve the community for generations to come. The Friends most recent gifts to the library were new books for the Children’s and Juvenile sections.
As the Hale County Library enters its second century, this celebration offers an opportunity for the entire community to come together and recognize the invaluable role this institution plays in our community’s educational, cultural, and social life.
