Hale County Hospital Selected As Diamond Impact Award Finalists; Continued Momentum in ER Funding Campaign

Hale County Hospital is continuing to make meaningful progress in 2025, earning statewide recognition while also advancing critical local projects. Most recently, the hospital has earned statewide recognition for its healthcare excellence and community outreach efforts by The Caring Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. It recently launched the Diamond Impact Award program to support innovative projects that improve healthcare quality and community engagement across the state.

Hale County Hospital submitted its application for the award, highlighting the newly launched Hale County Hospital Fellowship, a yearlong leadership development program modeled after the Project Horseshoe Farm Fellowship. Designed for top recent college graduates, this initiative focuses on three key areas: providing transitional support to high-need patients through the Health Partners Program, expanding healthcare career readiness for Greensboro High School students through CLIMB Academy, and assisting hospital leadership with strategic and community engagement efforts. By offering vital social and emotional support, mentorship, and operational capacity, the fellowship aims to improve patient outcomes, strengthen hospital–community ties, and build a pipeline for future healthcare professionals. The program seeks to create a sustainable, scalable model that helps rural hospitals not only survive but thrive. Hale County Hospital has received its invitation to attend the Diamond Impact Awards Luncheon on September 18th, 2025.

Since early 2024, Hale County Hospital has been actively fundraising to make long-needed renovations to its emergency room, a project that has received strong community and federal support. In July 2024, U.S. Representative Terri Sewell recognized these efforts by awarding the hospital a $1 million grant. The renovation project is expected to take six months to a year to complete; however, the hospital is committed to keeping the emergency department open throughout the process to ensure uninterrupted care for our community.
