Betty Hill Bowman was born on April 11, 1948, in Hale County, Alabama, to the late Bennie Lee and Elizabeth Palmer Hill. She departed this life on September 12, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her children.

Mrs. Bowman graduated from Hayes High School in the Birmingham Public School System and later from Booker T. Washington Business College. She was employed by the City of Birmingham as an accounting clerk and in vocational rehabilitation.

She accepted Christ early in her childhood under the leadership of her grandfather, Rev. Thomas Palmer, at St. James Baptist Church. After moving to Birmingham, she joined Oak Street Baptist Church and later became a member of Powers Chapel CME Church, where she served faithfully as a stewardess under the leadership of Presiding Elder Paul Harton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rev. George Hamilton Jr.; her sisters, Mattie Mae Hamilton and Roberta Reed; and her children, Rodney Hill and Shalaine Hamilton.

She is survived by her daughter, Rev. Valencia (Robert) Holt; her sons, Adrian Hill of Birmingham, Darryl (Mary) Perkins of Alabaster, and Sharon Easley Hill; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen greatgrandchildren; her sisters, Rebacce Williams, Faylor (Lee) Rutley of Moundville, Sheran Davis, and Jennifer (Paul) Addison of Birmingham; and her brothers, Charlie Thomas Hill of Birmingham and Therman (Mable) Hill of Moundville. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her devoted friend, Mrs. Armjean Underwood of Chicago, Illinois.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Powers Chapel CME Church in Moundville. Presiding Elder Paul Harton officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
