Charlie Lewis Turner, 69, of Greensboro, Alabama, passed away on August 4, 2025, at DCH Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 11, 1955, to the late Mary T. Ward and Elijah Coleman. He confessed Christ at an early age and loved going fishing.
Mr. Turner was married to the late Ollie Burton- Turner for 25 years. He worked for Price McGiffert for 44 years and later joined New Greater Hope Church in Tuscaloosa under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Dukes Jr.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Elijah (Veronica) Smith, David (Barbara) Burton, Patrick Burton, and Anthony (Dionndria) Burton; one daughter, Angelique Burton; and ten sisters, Bernice Turner, Mary Terrell, Bertha Ryans, Adline Terrell, Peggie (late Sidney) Bell, Mildred Glover, Janet Glover, Yvonne Gay, Brenda (Tommie) Teacher, and Marion (Nahuman) Sledge. He is also survived by five brothers, Nathaniel (Hope) Coleman, Henry Eugene (Rochelle) Coleman, Andrew (Lora) Coleman, and others; two uncles, Walter Turner and Barnie Collins; and one aunt, Rosetta Turner. His extended family includes sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, Lynda Burton, Jacqueline (Rodger) Holman, and Beulah (Kelvin) Smith; one brotherin- law, Haven (Grace) Merritt; one special nephew, Robbie Turner; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He also leaves behind his best friend, Bobby Williams, and a special friend, Christine Horton.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1248 County Road 21, Greensboro, Alabama. Pastor J.L. Anderson, church pastor, and Pastor Robert L. Dukes officiated.
