Billy Joe Hambright, a longtime resident of Greensboro, Alabama, passed away on June 7, 2025, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. He was 66 years old.

Billy was born on March 7, 1959, to the late John A. Hambright Sr. and the late Cora Dell Hambright. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Hambright Jr., Leonard Harris, and his nephew Reginald Aaron.

After graduating from high school, Billy answered the call to serve his country. He joined the United States military and gave 27 years of service, including time in Iraq. He retired as a Sergeant from the National Guard, a title he wore with pride, earned through discipline, sacrifice, and loyalty.

Billy also worked for 40 years at Westervelt Lumber, retiring with the respect of all who knew him. He was known as a man who showed up on time, worked hard, and led by example.

His service extended beyond the military and workplace. He gave generously to his community—mentoring, helping neighbors, and giving of himself wherever needed. He was a husband, father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and man of faith whose quiet acts of kindness and integrity left a lasting impact.

He is survived by his wife, Quita Hambright; five daughters: Shaquola (Johnny) McClenny, Tennisha Hambright, Venae Hall of Northport, Francesca (Michael) Burrell, and Krystal Hambright of Demopolis; two sons: Darius (Fancietta) Collins of Marion and Michael Hall of Moundville; five sisters: Mary (Clyde) Ryans, Brenda Hambright, Eunice Crawford, Yolanda Kennedy, and Mattie Vawters of Tuscaloosa; three brothers: Daniel (Elaine) Hambright of Arlington, Texas, Clyde Hambright, and Timothy (Leisa) Hambright; and two adopted grandchildren: Starteciya Hambright and Au’Derrion Hambright.

He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Jacynthia Brown, Sheryl Simmonds of Atlanta, and Amanda (Ruben) McCatty; four brothers-in-law: Floyd (Lisa) Williams, Diardre Williams of Detroit, Otha (Janice) Williams of Atlanta, and Gillespie Williams; and special nieces Katoya (Anthony) Quarles and Yaminah (Toyvian) Brand of Tuscaloosa; special mother-in-law Elizabeth Williams; and a favorite cousin, Carolyn Brooks of Cleveland, Ohio.

He leaves behind twelve grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and a special friend, Robert Gray.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church in Greensboro, with Pastor Lester O. Walker officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
