A Hale County man was reportedly in custody for questioning after a shooting in Uniontown on Saturday left one man dead as investigators work to determine the circumstances that led to the encounter.
The shooting happened near Cobb Street, in front of an apartment building. Authorities have identified the victim as Antonio Terrell Morgan. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that Javontae Smith of Greensboro was taken into custody for questioning shortly after the incident. As of press time, no formal charges had been announced, and the investigation remains active.
According to a statement from the Perry County District Attorney’s Office, preliminary information suggests the incident may have stemmed from a personal dispute. The Perry County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
