First cousins Wesley Mills Cook and Ava Gabrielle Cook are graduates of the Class of 2025 from their respective high schools.
Wesley’s graduation from Homewood High School was held at Samford University in Birmingham on May 17, 2025. Her Diploma was with an Advanced Academic Endorsement. Wesley was actively involved in “Nexus” and “Continuum” Show Choir, was a member of The National Beta Club, Key Club, Latin Club and Best Buddies of Alabama. Wesley was the Vice President and Founding Member of the Homewood High School Debate Team, created and led teen girls’ Bible study and received in her Senior year the High School Seal of Distinction. She has worked as a Yoga Receptionist, worked as a Nanny (The Hamptons, New York – summer of 2024) and currently works as Fab’rik Clothing Store Stylist in Homewood. Wesley received an academic scholarship from The University of Alabama where she will be attending college in the fall.
Ava’s graduation from Moody High School was held on May 20, 2025 at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham. Prior to graduation at the school’s Senior Awards Day, Ava was presented a certificate of scholarship from The University of Alabama at Birmingham, having received the President’s Scholarship and was recognized for Service and Extracurricular Honors. Ava was a member of The National Beta Club, Vice-President of Key Club, co-lead editor of the school Yearbook and a member of the following: The National Society of High School Scholars;
Mu Alpha Theta Organization – Math, English, and Science Honors; Sigma Delta Phi Science Honors and National English Honors Society. Ava has been “Senior of the Month,” was nominated for Medical and Health Care National Leadership Forum in 2024 and nominated as a Delegate representing Alabama – Congress of Future Medical Leaders in 2023, Ava worked as a P.T. Tech with Benchmark Physical Therapy during her Junior and Senior years in high school. She attends Church of the Highlands / Grants Mill. In the fall, Ava will be attending UAB.
Throughout high school, both Wesley and Ava spent numerous hours in volunteer service projects in their beloved communities.
Wesley is the daughter of Rayford and Whitney Cook of Homewood, Alabama. Ava is the daughter of Chad and Tricia Cook of Moody, Alabama.
