Initial reports indicated that a kitchen fire may have caused the blaze that destroyed this home on Second Ave. in Moundville just before 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night. Neighbors said the flames had jumped from the home to the surrounding trees before firefighters brought the fire under control. Agencies responding included Moundville Volunteer Fire Department and Moundville Police Department, as well as volunteers from neighboring departments including Hillcrest and Englewood. Neighbors reportedly saw smoke and were able to alert the occupant. As of press time, there were no known injuries related to the fire.
