Willie Lee Wilson passed away on March 23, 2025 at the age of 84. She was born December 8, 1940, in Hale County,

She confessed hope in Christ early in life and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Moundville, where she worshipped and served for many years.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Alberta Mullin; her father, Richard Sanders; her grandmother, Arthelia Williams; three sisters; three brothers; and one grandchild, Ke’Asia Sanders.

She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Daphne Field-Wilson of Moundville and Miss Regina Wilson of Tuscaloosa; two sons, Mr. Keith Wilson and Mr. Vincent Wilson, both of Moundville; and a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among them are Kendrick Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Shamonnia Wilson, Asia Wilson, Juvaris Wilson, Vaneshia Tubbs, and many more whose lives she shaped with care and wisdom.

Mrs. Wilson’s extended family includes a daughter she raised, Mrs. Mary Powell of Tuscaloosa; her special cousin, Mrs. Erma J. Shaw of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Rev. Mary (J.C.) Barnwell of Atlanta and Mrs. Betty Jupiter of Tuscaloosa; brothers, Earnest Lee Sanders of Moundville and J.C. Spence of Tuscaloosa; and the siblings her mother raised as her own—Mrs. Mary (Jack) McCall, Arthur Mullins, and Alvin Mullins.

Her funeral service was held Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Bass Tabernacle C.M.E. Church in Akron, with Pastor Rev. Willie D. Garnett officiating and Elder Paul L. Harton, Presiding Elder of the Tuscaloosa CME District, delivering the eulogy.
