Cora L. Brantley Harris, 62, of Sawyerville, passed away on January 14 at DCH Regional Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1962, in Hale County to the late Willie Neil Shepherd and Henry Shepherd Sr.

A woman of faith, she accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church before later joining New First Baptist Church in Sawyerville with her husband.

She attended Greensboro Public School East in Greensboro and was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, James Brantley, Lavell Brantley, and Joe Nathan Brantley, and one sister, Drucilla Long.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Abraham Harris; one daughter, Sharon Brantley of Sawyerville; two sons, Emmanuel Brantley of Tuscaloosa and Aakeem Brantley of Sawyerville; three sisters, Barbara Gilbert, Betty J. Bell of Sawyerville, and Rebecca (Charles) Adams of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, Nolan (Juanita) Brantley of Tuscaloosa, Floyd (Mary) Brantley, and Henry Brantley of Sawyerville; four sisters- in-law, Sarah Harris, Annie B. Brown, Patricia Morse of Sawyerville, and Elizabeth Carter of Tuscaloosa; five brothers-inlaw, Roosevelt Harris, Alex Powell, James Ward, Dave Ward, and Eddie Powell of Tuscaloosa; three godchildren, Catrina Wilson, Stephanie Tinker, and Hugh Turner; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 25, at 2 p.m. at New First Baptist Church in Sawyerville, with Rev. Samuel Noland Jr. officiating.
