Hoover woman charged with first-degree theft, criminal mischief in Hale

Erica Tashay Bennett, 26, of Hoover, Alabama, is facing charges of first-degree theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief stemming from incidents alleged to have occurred on September 21, 2023, in Hale County. She was arrested on December 6 by Hale County authorities and is currently in custody. Her bond has been set at $20,000.

According to court documents, Bennett is accused of stealing various household items, including appliances, electronics, and furniture, valued at $6,080, from a residence belonging to a victim in Hale County. Additionally, Bennett is charged with causing significant damage to the property, reportedly totaling $36,953.70. The alleged damage includes broken windows, torn linoleum flooring, damaged cabinets, and other extensive destruction to the interior and exterior of the home.
