Woods Promise Inc. concluded its annual STrEaM Camp, marking the end of a successful five-week program at the Hale County College and Career Academy. From July 10 to August 10, 26 enthusiastic young scholars arrived ready to engage in hands-on science activities and inquiry-based learning for five Saturdays. The students explored various subjects, including agriculture, chemistry, forensic science, food science, the chemistry of ice cream making, and even the mathematics of drones.

A special thanks go out to Superintendent Ryan, Dr. Murray, Mr. Scott, and Ms. Pauline Lewis for their unwavering support throughout the program. Additionally, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Yvette Richardson, whose dedication and four years of funding have made this program a reality. We would like to thank Mr. Tony Player, Ja’Mirea Player, and Ty’Mori Player for their invaluable support of the Woods Promise Inc. initiative. Your dedication and commitment to volunteering have played an integral role in the success of our efforts. We deeply appreciate your time, energy, and contributions to our community.

Parents, thank you for entrusting us with your children each Saturday. Watching them grow, learn, and engage in scientific discovery has been a privilege. To our eight graduating scholars heading off to middle school, congratulations! We are proud to send you off with a drone as a token of appreciation, and we hope to see you volunteer next year.

Woods Promise Inc. is proud to renew scholarships for eight outstanding students from the Black Belt attending prestigious institutions such as Troy University, Alabama A&M University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Georgia State University, Shelton State Community College, Alabama State University, and Spelman College. These scholarships reflect our commitment to empowering scholars from the Black Belt region and beyond, ensuring they have the financial support needed to excel academically and continue their journey toward success.
