Alvis Clark, 90, a beloved sister, wife, mom, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many, died July 6, following complications from pneumonia. She has gone to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in her heavenly home.

Alvis is survived by her daughter, Susan(Dan) Keenan(Valrico, FL), grandson, Jason (Angela)Prieto (Ruskin FL.), great-granddaughters, Kahlyn, and Brooke, sister, Margaret(Bill) Poage, sister, Margaret(Rock)Cabrera, sister-in-law, Barbara Clark(Hugh)Jackson ( Lilburn, GA)and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvis is predeceased by her loving husband, Francis Elbert (Frank) Clark, Jr, son, Francis Randolph Clark (Randy), sisters, Grace Stewart (Johnny), Chellie Baygents (J.V), Mabel Bonds (Hillard), Augusta Johnston (Harry) brothers: Walter Curb Jr. (Bessie), Clarence Curb (Maxie), and Edward Curb.

Alvis was born to Walter and Betty Curb of Greensboro, Alabama where she graduated from Greensboro High School Class of 1952 and was a devout member of the Greensboro Baptist Church where she served her Lord and congregation faithfully and voiced her beautiful soprano with the choir for many years. Alvis attended Clarke Memorial College in Newton, Mississippi where she extended her Lord’s calling in coursework for becoming a missionary. She met her dear husband, Frank, at church and they also attended the same high school. She and Frank were married for 59 years until his passing in 2015.

Alvis was a mainstay of the Greensboro office of Dairy Fresh, Inc. showcasing a well-recognized voice as receptionist. Her skills, enthusiastic demeanor, distinct voice, laughter, and ease with people served her well there and in the insurance industry after she and her family moved to Tampa, Florida.

After relocating to Tampa, she worked for Travelers Insurance Company while she and Frank continued raising their two children. She became an active and faithful member in First Baptist Church of Tampa, continuing her service with the Women’s Missionary Union and choir. She and Frank renewed their wedding vows there in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Alvis’ shared an unabashed passion for University of Alabama football and her resounding, “Roll Tide!” was a staple greeting for friends and relatives throughout many football seasons! Alvis and Frank made their home in Tampa Baptist Manor for over 20 years where Alvis was called “friend” by countless residents! She had a generous, loving, and positive spirit that was contagious, and she cherished her many friendships.

She will be sorely missed here on earth, but the family are reassured knowing that Alvis has been welcomed to her heavenly home.
