Sister Nancy Lawson was born on December 25, 1938, and passed away on August 26, 2024, at the age of 85.

Funeral services for Sister Nancy Lawson were held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Cassimore Community Church in Greensboro, Alabama. Dr. Reverend Bryan McCullough officiated the services.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Sister Nancy Lawson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on December 25, 1938, to the late Allie and Mattie Robertson. Nancy lived a life marked by faith, dedication, and love.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lawson; her son, Willie Lawson, Jr.; and her son-inlaw, Dwight Williams. She is survived by her children, Patricia Williams of Pontiac, Michigan; Sharon (Leon) Attaway of Charlotte, North Carolina; Alonza (Dolores) Lawson of Pontiac, Michigan; George (Brenda) Robertson of Douglasville, Georgia; and Xanntranette (Freddy) Jones of Austell, Georgia. Nancy is also survived by her beloved stepsons, James Walker of Toledo, Ohio, and Antonio (Sherri) Long of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Nancy was the sister of Jimmie Roberson (Carrie) and Alex Robertson (Pearlie), and the late Sam Roberson, Richard Robertson, Louise (James) Williams, and Annie Bell Cheatom. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Roberson and Eire Harris, and by her brothersin- law, Dwight Cheatom and Hobbie (Clementine) Lawson.

Nancy’s deep faith was evident throughout her life. She dedicated many years of service to Cassimore A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served as president of the usher board, church secretary, superintendent of Sunday School, and choir member.

Professionally, Nancy was a valued employee at Vanity Fair for 26 years, a testament to her dedication and strong work ethic.

She left behind a rich legacy of family, which includes twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, with another on the way. Nancy will also be remembered fondly by her special sisters, Mary Woods, Irene Banks, and Susie Moore, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nancy Lawson’s life was a beautiful testament to her faith, love, and commitment to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
