Sister Geneva Washington was born on April 13, 1945, and passed away on August 21, 2024.

The funeral service for Sister Geneva Washington was held at Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located at 9974 County Road 16, Greensboro, Alabama, 36744, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Reverend Nathaniel Carter officiated the service.

Sister Geneva Washington accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. After moving to Brooklyn, New York, she joined Saint Luke Baptist Church, where she remained a dedicated member. She served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee and the Missionary Department.

She worked at New York Hospital until her retirement. Following her retirement, Geneva returned to Alabama and rejoined Mars Hill Baptist Church, where she continued to be a faithful member until her health declined.

Geneva Washington transitioned from labor to rest on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayborne Washington Sr. and Lula Lyles Washington; her grandson, Kendry D. (Ken) Paige; and her siblings, Alex (Pot) Washington, Clara (Ann) Landers, Clayborne (Crook) Washington Jr., John (Sonny) Washington, Ruth (Pearl) Russell, Lillie M. (Nook) Hiskell, and Lovell (Butt) Washington.

She is survived by her two sons, Bryan K. (Tammy) Washington of Queens, New York, and Ryan K. (Chandra) Washington of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Christine (Clarence) Royal of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mary (Jensy) (Earl) Abrams of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and one brother, George (Eugenia) Washington of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She also leaves behind two sisters- in-law, Tammy Washington of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Irene (Cookie) Washington of Greensboro, Alabama; two devoted friends, Evelyn (Niecy) Hill and Diane Johnson, both of Greensboro, Alabama, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
