Alma Goddard was born in South Carolina to William and Katie Adams. She was the youngest daughter of eight children and was a wonderful mother to two sons, Larry and Richard Goddard.

Alma was known for her willingness to help anyone, at any time, in any way she could, without hesitation or delay. She was also recognized for being a great cook and was known to make a big pot of soup for anyone who was sick, ensuring they would feel better.

Alma Goddard was baptized on April 19, 1957, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York City, New York, as a symbol of her dedication to Jehovah, to whom she remained a loyal servant until her death. She moved from Michigan to Greensboro in 1968 to assist in teaching honest-hearted people the Good News about Jehovah and His Kingdom.
