Main Street space will display art from Bethany and Frank Engle, as well as featuring work from other area artists
A grand opening celebration for The Engle Gallery, LLC, will be on Tuesday, September 3, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Owner, Eve Engle, announced that a ribboncutting for the gallery will be at 4:15 PM with a reception to follow. The gallery will feature rotating exhibitions of various artists on a monthly basis.
The first artist to be featured will be Dr. Bethany Windham Engle, a painter. Retired from Shelton State Community College, Dr. Engle was a founding faculty member for the college and head of the Art Department for many years. Now Dr. Engle resides in Greensboro with her daughter, Eve, at Camellia Cottage on Tuscaloosa Street. Dr. Engle continues to paint in her studio.
The Engle Gallery will host a visiting artist each month, with a reception on the first Tuesday of each month. A permanent collection of Engle’s family works has been installed honoring the late Frank L. Engle, a renowned sculptor. Jason Irvin has been noted as an artist in residence for the gallery, which also is home to the Emerald City Studios. The studio is also where owner, Eve, will use as her creative workspace.
Gallery hours are as follows: Thursday and Friday, from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM; and Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM. The gallery may also be viewed by appointment. For more information, call 334-218-9065, or find The Engle Gallery LLC
