The funeral service for Deacon Daniel Williams, Jr. was held at Greenleaf Missionary Baptist Church. The Reverend Carlier Agnew, the pastor, officiated on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

Daniel Williams, Jr. was born on August 20, 1949, in Greensboro, Alabama, to the late Daniel Williams, Sr. and Annie Bell Smith Williams. He graduated from Hale County Training School on May 23, 1969. Daniel was happily married for 21 years to Oda Skipper Williams, until she passed.

Daniel was employed with JacMac Tires Company in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for a number of years. He then discovered a love for the open road, driving large semi-trucks, which later became one of his favorite jobs. Along with enjoying the open road, he had a passion for hunting, training, and running his dogs.

Daniel enjoyed all people, good laughs, and chats. He loved all his children, grandchildren, and siblings very much. He was a very spiritual man and never let his beliefs waver. He was very devoted to his faith and belief in God. He was a member of Greenleaf Baptist Church, a Deacon, and served faithfully until his passing.

Daniel leaves behind six children: a daughter, April Zanders of Greensboro, Alabama, and a son-in-law, Atron Zanders, Sr., also of Greensboro, Alabama. He also leaves behind five children from his previous marriage: Daniel Williams, II of Atlanta, Georgia, Jacqueline Thomas and Lamanzer Williams of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Detria Williams, and Felipe Williams of Atlanta, Georgia. He is survived by a combined host of nieces, nephews, greatnephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Daniel leaves behind four siblings: Bobby Williams, Sr. of Birmingham, Alabama, Johnnie Williams, Sr. of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, JoAnne Griffin of Weaver, Alabama, and Ethel Harmon of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by Linda Gilmore of Greensboro, Alabama, and a brother-in-law, Earl Gilmore, Sr. of Greensboro, Alabama. Preceding him in death are two sisters, Sadie Mae Lee and Bernice Williams.
