The funeral service for Billy Joe (Bud) Evans was held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Greater New Destiny Baptist Church in Greensboro, Alabama. Pastor Anthony Moore, the church pastor, and Pastor George Thomas of New Generation Church of Crestview, Florida officiated.

Billy Joe (Bud) Evans was born to Henry Evans Sr. and Ethel Lee Evans on December 23, 1946. He confessed Christ and joined the New Hope Baptist Church. He graduated from Hale County Training School, Class of 1966, in Greensboro, Alabama. Billy was a stellar athlete, playing football as number 57 (running back/defensive back), winning several championships under the leadership of Coach Eugene Royster. Billy later married and moved to California until God called him home on June 21, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Billy loved going to church and praising the LORD.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Moore of Greensboro, a son, Bryant Matthew Evans of Los Angeles, California, his parents, Ethel Lee and Henry Evans Sr., and two brothers, Matthew Evans and Henry Evans Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories: Renona Evans (special and loving niece) of Gardenia, California, a son, Lamonte Harris of Greensboro, Alabama, and a daughter, Brenda Carol Evans of Los Angeles, California. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Javious White, Bobbie Harris, Lamonte Oneal Harris II, and Kaden Oneal Harris (with whom he had a loving bond), four brothers: Percy (Minnie) Evans of Victorville, California, Ervin (Sharon) Evans of Reseda, California, Mose (Valerie) Evans of Simi Valley, California, and Shannon (Crissy) Evans of Sawyerville, Alabama, and five sisters: Carrie Bryant of Los Angeles, California, Annie Ridgeway of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Denise (Ronald) Long of Irondale, Alabama, Samatha Evans of Sawyerville, Alabama, and Mary Rodriguez of Rochester, New York. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will also cherish his memory.
