Dorothy Wynn Jones was born on April 25, 1950, to the late Anderson and Mattie Lee Winn. Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher and head of the kitchen ministry.
On May 23, 2024, God called her from this earthly home to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anderson and Mattie Lee Winn; her husband, Roosevelt Jones; her daughter, Mattie Wynn; and her siblings, Willie Winn, Ruby Wynn, McLester Winn, Evelyn Bowden, and Marilyn Winn.
Dorothy left to cherish her memories: two loving daughters, Shirley Wynn and Sophia Jones; three loving sons, LeAndrew (Vercellian) Jones, Jeremiah (LaTonya) Jones, and Kelvin Jones; four brothers, Anderson (Gwendolyn) Wynn Jr., Darryl (Patricia) Lowe, Leon (Chykeitha) Rochell, and Marcus (Carmer) Wynn; one sister, Gloria (Jack) Smith; three sisters-in-law, Elnora Jones, Edna Jones, and Shirley Winn; one great uncle, Clabion (Beatrice) Winn; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration for Sister Dorothy (Dot) Jones was held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Tabernacle C.M.E. Church, 22890 Co Rd 32, Akron, AL 35441. Pastor Willie Garnett and Pastor Marvin Wiggins officiated.
