Elizabeth Juanita Payne Phares, born April 2, 1930 to Dewey and Reba Wyatt Payne passed away on April 21, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center at the age of 94. Services were held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Neil Honea officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at the church one hour prior to the service.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Reba Wyatt; husband;Lloyd Phares, sister; Carolyn Lorrein Payne, and brother; Adolph Payne.
Survivors include her daughters; Judith Phares Mills (Keith), Henrietta Phares Redd (Billy), grandchildren; Miranda Key Parton (Homer), Phares Lloyd Redd, Reba Elizabeth Redd, great grandchildren; Amelia Parton, Wyatt Parton, sisters; Nelda Payne Cotton, Carol Payne Robinson (Larry), special daughter; Barbara Redd Peak and many nieces and nephews.
Juanita graduated from Akron High School in 1948 and went on to marry Lloyd Phares on September 23, 1950 in Columbus, Mississippi.
Honorary pallbearers were friends in “Happy Holler”, members and friends of Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church, members and friends of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church, Dr. Wilks, Carlie, Madison, Tori and Trudi – TSICU at DCH, Dr. Anand Balachandra, Dr. Zaheer Khan, Julie McCormick, Jessica and Support staff in ER.
