Mary Louise Reed Greene, affectionately known as “Soot,” was born on December 7, 1944, and departed this life on November 2, 2023, at the age of 78. She dedicated her life to her faith as a member of First Baptist Church in Newbern, Alabama, and was known for her participation in many church organizations.
She leaves behind her daughters, Tracy Palmer and Wanda Faye Greene of Newbern, Alabama, and Kawanda (Willie) Greene of Sawyerville, Alabama; one brother, Leroy Reed of Uniontown, Alabama; three grandchildren, Terrience Greene of Austin, Texas, and Kyron Hunter of Sawyerville, Alabama; and a loving host of sisters-inlaw, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters: Catherine Williams, Leanna Reed, and Pinky Bell Jones; and four brothers: Andrew Reed, Andrew Luke Reed, Richard Reed, and Henry Reed.
A celebration of her life took place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Newbern, Alabama, with Pastor James Williams officiating.
