Nicholas “Big Nick” Nickson, age 27, of Sawyerville, AL, entered eternal rest on May 1, 2023. A celebration of his life was held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at New Pentecostal Church, 708 Hobson Street, Greensboro, Alabama 36744.
Nicholas was born on March 30, 1996, to Jimmy Nickson and Manner Bryant. He grew up in Sawyerville, AL, and attended Akron High School, where he became a star football player and earned the nickname “Big Nick.” His football career continued at Hale County High School, and after graduation, he joined the Alabama Silverbacks semi-pro football team. Nicholas found love and married Kataja Nickson, and together they parented four beautiful children.
Big Nick’s memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Kataja Nickson of Greensboro, AL; his son, Khaze Nickson; his three daughters, Azaria, Armoni, and Nova Nickson, all of Greensboro, AL; his mother, Manner Nickson of Sawyerville, AL; his father, Jimmy (Denise) Nickson of Birmingham, AL; his brothers, Richard (Angie) Bryant, Demetrius Bryant, and Jimmie Nickson III; his sisters, Carlissa (Marcus) Maiden, Victoria Nickson, Nykitta Nickson, and Quinisha Nickson; six nieces; two nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
