Woods Promise Inc., a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Charles C., Courtney C., and Wendy A. Woods, has continued its STrEaM Saturday initiative for the past two years. The initiative provides free STEM education to students in Hale County.

This year’s theme was “Planting the Seed.” Students read books about the difference between needs and wants, discussed plant growth and development, and made slime. They also participated in arts and crafts.

Woods Promise Inc. is grateful for the support of the Alabama State Department of Education, State Senator Bobby Singleton, Dr. Yvette Richardson, Alabama State Board of Education, Mrs. Bernadette Robinson, Reading Instructor; Ms. Mary K. Bell; Mr. Marcus Addington, Science Instructor; Mr. Jonathan Gator, Mathematics Instructor; Ja’Mirea Player; Asharia Briggins, Ty’Mori Player and Mr. Tony Player. The organization is also grateful to Superintendent Michael Ryans for making the College and Careers Center available.

Woods Promise Inc. aims to continue to provide free STEM alternatives to deserving students who want to stay within their communities during the summer. The organization believes that STEM education is essential for students to succeed in today’s economy.
