Ms. Mary L. Long passed away on March 6, 2023, at Bryan Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis, Alabama, at the age of 77. She was born on June 15, 1945, to the late Louis and Louise Long of Sawyerville, Alabama. Ms. Long is survived by two sisters, Cora L. Embrey of Cleveland, Ohio and Bertha Crosby of Buffalo, New York, as well as nine children: Barbara (Evans) Benison of Sawyerville, Alabama, Curtis (Lola) Jones of Birmingham, Alabama, Johnny (Faith) Long of St. Roberts, Missouri, Alberta (Leon) Sheffield of Eutaw, Alabama, Hoover (Leslie) Long of Greensboro, Alabama, Alvin (Latonya) Long of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Linda Long of Greensboro, Alabama, Rudolph Long of Sawyerville, Alabama, and Cedric Long of Marietta, Georgia. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Agnew Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1110 Baptist Hill in Greensboro, Alabama, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Agnew Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Long Burial Site, 579 Sunflower Lane in Sawyerville. Eddie Hutton Sr. will be the officiant.
