As a part of Hale County Library’s continuing Bicentennial Lecture Series, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the founding of Greensboro, Kitty Johnson will give a program on Amelia Gayle Gorgas Tuesday, March 21 at 5:00 p.m. at the library.
Gorgas, a Greensboro native, made lasting contributions to the University of Alabama, libraries, and the advancement of women in Alabama. Gorgas was the daughter of John Gayle, a Greensboro resident and former Alabama governor and Supreme Court justice. The main library on the campus of the University of Alabama is named for her.
