Brenda Kay (Thomas) Lawrence, age 65, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022 at UAB hospital in Birmingham AL.
Brenda was born on March 1, 1957, the daughter of the late Johnny and Louise Thomas.
Brenda was a 1975 graduate of Greensboro Public School West. While she attended high school she worked with Turpin Vice Insurance Agency. After graduating she attended Shelton State Technical College to further her education.
She later was employed by the University of Alabama where she worked in many departments and later retired.
Upon retirement she enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, cooking and sharing her recipes, beach trips, gatherings with former classmates and work friends and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going to singings and visiting the shut in’s and friends and family in the nursing home, where she would take them her delicious baked goodies and/or a beautiful bouquet from her yard. She also loved her church family and took an active role as treasurer of Big Sandy United Methodist Women’s group. She was also a leader of Happy Hearts in her Mt. Hermon community. She loved her family and friends and was so loved by everyone who met her no matter how brief the encounter. She will be greatly missed by everyone who were fortunate to have known her. We all have great peace in knowing that she is rejoicing with her Heavenly Father!
She was preceded in death by her father Johnny Thomas.
Survivors include her husband Vic and son Joseph, her mom Louise Thomas, her brother Steve (Anna) Thomas, her sister Audrea (Henry) Moore, her nieces Caitlin (Matt) Payne and Jordan Thomas, and her nephews Nathaniel (Kaleigh) Thomas, Hunter and Alden Moore, and numerous other family members and friends.
In accordance with Brenda’s wishes cremation will be taking place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Big Sandy United Methodist Church Tuscaloosa AL, with Savannah Gross officiating, on Saturday October 1, 2022 at 10:00 AM.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
